AidforAll were approached by our friends at the eeRa association to jointly organise a bake sale at CERN. The date of 24 February 2023 was chosen, marking one year since the start of the invasion of Ukraine. As eeRa were going to use their half of the proceeds to send medicines to Ukraine, AidforAll decided to use their share to help people suffering from the earthquake in Turkey.
A huge community of friends and supporters baked an incredible selection of pastries, cakes and savoury items, and a dynamic team of volunteers pulled the whole event together. The CERN community is a generous one and everything sold like 'hotcakes'! The financial result, including many kind donations, was enough for AidforAll to purchase a housing container and send it to one of the worst hit areas in Turkey - Iskenderun in Antakya.
